NairaClan policy
Community Guidelines
NairaClan works best when people can share local knowledge, ask for help, discover community ties, and communicate without harassment, scams, or identity-based abuse.
Use NairaClan for real community value
- Share useful local information, civic updates, safety alerts, events, housing leads, job leads, service recommendations, and community observations.
- Use Clan discovery respectfully to find people connected by state, town, or current living state.
- Mark uncertain information clearly instead of presenting it as verified fact.
- Keep posts relevant to the forum, category, request, Clan, profile, or connect request context.
Respect people and identity
- No ethnic hate speech, tribal attacks, religious abuse, gender-based abuse, or identity-based harassment.
- No threats, intimidation, doxxing, or pressure to reveal private family or personal details.
- No impersonation of users, public officials, companies, moderators, admins, advertisers, or NairaClan staff.
- Do not mock, shame, or target people because of their state, town, accent, origin, religion, disability, gender, age, or personal background.
Forum and request rules
- Post in the right state and category so other members can find useful information.
- Use request threads for public recommendations. Do not move request responses into private contact to hide advice that should remain visible to the community.
- Do not ask for deposits, transport money, verification codes, bank details, passwords, private documents, or personal addresses from people who do not already trust you.
- Do not post fake jobs, fake housing, fake services, fake emergency stories, deceptive pricing, or misleading claims.
- Do not flood the same topic, repeat the same request, or post the same promotional message across states or categories.
Connect requests and direct contact
Connect requests should be respectful, asynchronous, and purposeful. Repeated unwanted contact, pressure, threats, sexual content, hate speech, scams, or attempts to force off-platform transactions are not allowed.
If a connect request or off-platform contact makes you feel unsafe, use report, block, or other available safety controls instead of escalating the conversation.
Clan and profile behavior
- Do not use origin, town, or current state information to harass, shame, stalk, or profile people.
- Do not scrape member lists, mass-contact people from a state or town, or create accounts to manipulate discovery.
- Do not misrepresent your origin, current living state, role, affiliation, or advertiser status.
Advertising and promotion
Promotions, ads, business claims, destination links, and creative assets must be honest, safe, and relevant. Ads may be reviewed, rejected, paused, or removed if they create risk or violate platform policy.
Advertiser verification is for ad review. It does not mean the advertiser is generally verified as a person or that NairaClan guarantees their offer.
Prohibited content and conduct
- No scams, phishing, advance-fee fraud, deceptive promotions, fake opportunities, or misleading service claims.
- No explicit sexual content, sexual exploitation, child safety violations, gratuitous violence, or content that encourages self-harm or violence.
- No spam, automated abuse, duplicate accounts for evasion, data scraping, report abuse, or attempts to bypass restrictions.
- No illegal goods, illegal services, stolen property, forged documents, blackmail, extortion, doxxing, or threats.
- No content that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights.
Reporting and moderation
Report content, profiles, connect requests, requests, comments, ads, or accounts that break these guidelines. Reports should be honest, specific, and used for safety rather than retaliation.
Admins and moderators may inspect reported content and related context, including connect requests when reported. They may remove content, restrict accounts, block actions, dismiss reports, escalate cases, or apply other safety actions.
Enforcement
- Low-risk mistakes may receive a warning, edit request, content removal, or reminder.
- Repeated or serious violations may lead to posting limits, messaging limits, ad limits, account restrictions, suspension, or ban.
- Severe violations may lead to immediate action without a prior warning.
- Attempts to evade enforcement, intimidate reporters, or create new accounts after restriction may lead to stronger action.
Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was made in error, you may appeal through the official support or admin channel when available. Appeals should explain what happened, what decision you are contesting, and why the decision should be reviewed.
